Award-winning folk duo Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman play at Crowland Abbey in January

BBC Radio 2 Folk Award ‘best duo’ winners Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman come to Crowland Abbey in the new year.

Long established as one of the UK folk scene’s most enduring partnerships, the pair have been dubbed ‘songwriters par excellence’ by Roots Magazine.

Their music is described as tuneful, intelligent and soulful, with Kathryn’s powerful voice matched against Sean’s ‘driving guitar’.

It’s this talent that scooped them the Radio 2 competition winners’ title in both 2013 and 2016.

Audiences can expect a set of impressive folk songs and heartfelt traditional numbers as they switch from ballads to ‘stomping acoustic rock.’

The duo play at the Abbey on Sunday, January 27, at 7.30pm.
