Win tickets to Peterborough performance of West End hit

More news, no ads

A West End smash hit is set to arrive in Peterborough later this month, starring four giants of rock’n’roll – and you could win tickets to be there.

Be Bop a Lula comes to The Cresset on April 24 and features Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent, Billy Fury and Buddy Holly.

In 1960 rockers Eddie and Gene flew in from the States and were joined by British heartthrob Billy Fury for the UK’s very first multi-artist rock’n’roll tour, and this show tells the story perfectly.

At the time, reviewers were appalled by the on stage antics, audiences screamed their approval and British youth culture was born. What a time of musical history to revisit for one night only!

Theatre-goers are invited to relive these seminal concerts in the company of incredible singers and a band said to be ‘tighter than a pair of your tightest drainpipe trousers’.

Buddy Holly’s live tours were equally responsible for introducing rock’n’roll to the UK.

The four are seen combined on stage for the first time ever. Cochran’s legendary guitar riffs, Vincent’s menacingly moody stage presence, Fury’s smouldering looks and soaring vocals and Holly’s good-time rock’n’roll are promised.

The show features solid-gold hits C’mon Every’body, Summertime Blues, Peggy Sue and many more!

Gavin Skelhorn, who plays Billy Fury in the show, said: “Be Bop a Lula is a real doozer of a stage show.”

We have two pairs of tickets to give away. For your chance to win a pair answer this question: Billie Fury, Gene Vincent and which other rock’n’roll legend were responsible for launching multi-artist rock’n’roll shows to the UK?

Write your answer in the coupon provided in this week's Spalding Guardian (April 7), fill in your details and send it – marked ‘Be Bop a Lula Competition’ – to the Spalding Guardian at 4 Francis Street, Spalding PE11 1AT.

Entries must be with us by first post next Wednesday, April 13. To buy tickets visit www.cresset.co.uk or call the box office on 01733 265705.
