Marking 40 years of Spalding Folk Club with two exciting dates

Spalding Folk Club celebrates its 40th anniversary this year and is planning two special events to mark the occasion.

On Wednesday, May 1, the regular club night at the South Holland Centre will feature an old friend of the club, award-winning singer and songwriter from County Durham, Jez Lowe. It starts at 8pm.

The club is hoping to see lots of old faces for a reunion, and in particular to bring together many of the former organisers and committee members. There will also be a birthday cake.

Then, on Thursday, May 2, at 8pm, also at the South Holland Centre, there is a very special concert with Radio 2 Folk Award winners Kathryn Roberts and Sean Lakeman.

Club secretary, organiser and 'all-round main woman' for the club, Liz Padgett, celebrated 20 years at the helm in March, and was presented with a beautiful commemorative plate.
