Fundraising summer fair marks 10 years of Johnson Hospital at current Spalding site




Enjoy a day of games, stalls, crafts and more at this year's summer fair, organised by the Johnson Hospital League of Friends.

The event will be held on Saturday (June 1) from 2-4pm, at the Johnson Community Hospital site in Pinchbeck Road, Spalding, writes Patrick Walsh.

And it will include a performance from Spalding Amateur Dramatic and Operatic Society (SADOS), a raffle, tombola and cakes.

Last year's event saw approximately £1,600 raised to aid the funding of various pieces of equipment, gifts and to increase patient comfort. Around £780 was raised by the raffle alone.

The friends also celebrated the 70th anniversary of the NHS with the donation of a £25,000 portable scanner.

This year's event marks ten years to the date of the hospital moving into its current premises from Priory Road.

The Johnson Hospital League of Friends charity was previously known as The League of Friends of Spalding Hospitals. It was formed more than 60 years ago by a group of ladies, headed by Nellie Fowler and a local bank manager. Its chair today isSouth Holland District Councillor Angela Newton.
