Springfields Events Centre will host a quilt show by Grosvenor Shows this weekend

Gear up, quilt lovers - a show just for you will be making its way to Spalding this weekend.

Grosvenor Shows will be hosting one of their acclaimed events this weekend at Springfields Events Centre.

On September 24 and 25 from 10am until 4pm, you will be able to check out a variety of feature quilt displays from well-known quilters and textile artists.

Exhibitors will also be selling patchwork and supplies to cater for all your needs, while there will be demonstrators on hand to showcase their techniques and give you some advice.

Advance booking has now passed, but you will still be able to purchase tickets at the door.

Adults will be allowed in for £6, while senior citizen tickets are priced at £5.

Children aged from 8 to 16 can enter for just £2.

A Grosvenor Shows spokesperson told the Spalding Guardian: “We’ve got lots of patchwork quilts on display, which are arts really, from quilters across the country.

“Traders will be there selling all the things needed for patchwork, with books, sewing machines, threads, fabric, everything.”

Grosvenor travel all over the country, with their reach extending from Harrogate to Exeter.

The Spalding event is one of their smaller shows, but that doesn’t detract from their excitement ahead of it.

“Patchwork is a massive thing across the country,” the spokesperson said.

“We usually have this one in June every year, but obviously because of Covid it’s been transferred to September. That’ll be a bit different for us.

“We normally have competitions at our bigger shows that people can enter, and they’re judged against one another.

“At the smaller regional shows, it’s just displays on show from well-known quilt artists.”

They say the quilting demonstrations will be among the weekend’s biggest highlights.

These will involve instructions for machine and hand-quilting, with different teachers having different techniques.
