Gosberton Septemberfest is set to take residents by storm next month

The first rendition of a new festival is set to take a town by storm.

Gosbterton’s first ‘Septemberfest’ will have visitors hooked for the weekend when it runs from September 17-19.

The event was conceived by organiser Patrick Hughes, and he is very excited for it to kick off.

“A lot of work has been put into it,” he said.

“I’m hoping that we go well, and of course we’re trying to move tickets and things at the moment.

“Tickets will cost £20 for the Friday, but that does include a free welcome drink on the Friday night. So it’s not so bad, and it’s a good long period of entertainment.

“We haven’t asked any of the bands or such to do anything for free, because we understand there have been lockdowns and this is their chance to get some publicity and make a few bob.

“It’ll help to provide some entertainment inside what is a beautiful old building as well.”

Septemberfest will take place at St Peter and St Paul’s Parish Church, with things getting under way on Friday, September 17, at 7pm.

Friday’s entertainment will include performances from a live choir vibe and special guests the Conroy Irish Dancing Group, with a licensed bar open until 11pm.

With tickets for the Saturday priced at £2 on the door and with under-12s getting in for free, Patrick says visitors can expect a wide range of fun and games.

“There will be lots of things for kids, like face painting and artwork and things like that,” he said

“There will be some stalls and people with their own stands. I know one local girl who makes her own handbags, and she’ll have her stall there.

“There will be a historical treasure hunt, and a bit of children’s cinema.

“We’ll have a church tour as well, which is quite interesting because it dates back to around about the 12th century.”

Come the Sunday, attendees will be treated to two of folk music’s biggest names in Martin and Eliza Carthy.
