PHOTO GALLERY: Students at University Academy Holbeach to perform famous musical Les Misérables

A cast of around 40 students will take to the stage at University Academy Holbeach this Thursday, Friday and Saturday (November 8-10) to perform Les Misérables.

The actors and actresses, from year seven up to year 13 have spent six months rehearsing for the production, based on the French historical novel by Victor Hugo.

While this is the ‘School Edition’ version of the worldwide musical, it is almost a carbon copy of the original, with the only difference being that some of the songs are a little shorter.

Musical director Sam Graper said: “It is a very challenging musical, and very dramatic with tragedy.

“There is no speaking as it is all done in song so they are acting while singing.

“We have a very talented cast.”

In the lead roles are Freya Hardy as Jean Valjean; Libbi Wooding as Inspector Javert; Bobbi Shephard as Fantine; Analise Newman as Éponine; Millie Burchnall as Cosette and Keira Embleton as Marius Pontmercy.
