The concert, A Night at the Musicals, was the choir’s way of thanking the church for its support ever since the choir was formed by Pauline Marriott and Liz McRoberts in November 2010.

Liz said: “We have 18 singers, with Polly Corcoran (11) being the youngest, and two keyboard players.

“The choir is funded and supported by the church as part of its outreach to the community.

“People don’t pay anything to join and we’ve done small concerts at St John’s for the past two years.”

“But we decided to hold the concert in the church room because it’s been completely refurbished and therefore would be more comfortable for people.”

Liz and the choir hope comments posted on social media site Facebookk such as “It was a wonderful night – we really enjoyed it,” from Nelia King will lead more people to join them.

“The concert was a great success and the room was virtually full to capacity,” Liz said.

“Hopefully, people saw what we can do and got pleasure out of listening to us.”
