Young musicians will be showcasing their talents in an upcoming concert at Spalding’s South Holland Centre this March.

Members of Spalding Music Centre’s new ‘Mash Up’ Ensemble will be performing alongside the already well established junior and senior string orchestras on Tuesday, March 14 at 6pm.

The Mash Up Ensemble features young performers playing a variety of instruments and is one of a network of similar groups introduced by the Lincolnshire Music Service across the county last September.

These were formed as an enrichment opportunity for students learning to play musical instruments in whole-class situations in schools.

Tutor Ann Wright, says the group welcomes any young players, of any age, playing any suitable instrument.

She said: “Its main focus is on beginners up to approximately Grade 3 standard, but it also includes more advanced members.”

The ensemble is conducted by Dave Taylor, supported by Ann, and Harriet Flather. It meets weekly at the South Holland Centre.

Also, joining them for the first time will be ‘Choir Vibe’, led by Liz Lenten.

Tickets cost £5 for adults (accompanied under 16s free), available from the South Holland Centre on 01775 764777.
