Showtime 2019 at Pinchbeck Village Hall promises live music, comedy and a T.Rex tribute act

This Saturday (October 12) sees a jam-packed night of musical entertainment at Pinchbeck Village Hall.

Top comedienne and vocal entertainer, Ali James, will be performing - alongside ‘60s and ‘70s tribute act Electric Boogie, whose singer, Rob Benson, toured with a member of glam rock band T. Rex.

Organiser, Alan Hansard, said: “It looks to be a good night so come along and enjoy yourselves.”

Vocalist Ali James will be performing at the event on Saturday.

Also performing is Chris Frazier (Fraz), as part of Electric Boogie.

Alan said: “I have known Ali and Fraz since they played at Pinchbeck Social Club, which was above the village hall.

“If you’re a bloke coming along to see Ali, expect to get the mickey taken out of you; but it’s all done in tongue and cheek and is good, clean comedy.

“Rob Benson spent 12 years touring with original T. Rex member Micky Finn’s T. Rex and is now in The Ultimate T. Rex Experience, along with Chris Frazier.

“Micky Finn was the percussionist in the original band T. Rex and later toured the world as Micky Finn’s T. Rex.

“Electric Boogie will be playing a mix of ‘60s and ‘70s covers in the first part of their set and the second set will be a tribute to T. Rex.”

Famous T. Rex songs include ‘Bang a Gong’, ‘Children of the Revolution’, ‘20th Century Boy’ and 'I Love to Boogie.'

The band was originally known as Tyrannosaurus Rex.

Their lead singer, Marc Bolan, was dubbed one of the pioneers of the glam rock movement of the 1970s.

He died at the age of 29 in a car crash, just two weeks before his 30th birthday.

Micky Finn is said to have returned to the mainstream music scene in 1997, fronting the new ‘controversial’ version of T. Rex, Mickey Finn’s T. Rex.

They played old T. Rex songs until his last days. He died in 2003, aged 55.

For tickets to Saturday’s event call Alan on 07531 140753 or Bernie or Maureen on 01775 769220. Doors open at 7pm for 7.30pm and there is a bar.

Tickets cost £10 each and money raised goes towards the upkeep of the village hall. There will also be a raffle.
