Follow Sleeping Beauty and her adventures in Pantaloonia with the Hurst Children's Theatre Group at the South Holland Centre
The Hurst Children’s Theatre Group are back with a brand new script at the South Holland Centre.
On Friday, January 18, and Saturday 19, the cast perform Sleeping Beauty - but with a difference.
In a script written by Mike Hurst, whose daughter Bryony runs the Bourne-based group, Sleeping Beauty must be saved from the evil Maleficent - but what to do?
Why, burn all the spinning wheels and take refuge in Pantoloonia of course!
"Pantoloonia is my dad's creation," laughed Bryony. "He has always wanted to do a panto and include a place called Pantoloonia but until now no one would have known what it is!"
Pantoloonia is an imaginary world where Sleeping Beauty will meet other well-known characters such as Dick Whittington, Jack and the Beanstalk, Snow White and Cinderella.
Mike writes all the scripts for the theatre and was in famous '60s group The Springfields with Dusty Springfield.
"This is our tenth pantomime at the South Holland Centre," Bryony added. "It is a fun-filled traditional family pantomime with laughs for children and adults alike.
"The show sometimes deviates away from the original story, but that is what makes it such fun! The cast is made up of local children between the ages of 4 and 16. The children all love drama and particularly enjoy experiencing the thrill of performing in a real theatre to a live audience. Please come and show them your support."
The Hurst Children’s Theatre Group was established in London 50 years ago and one of its first pupils was Audrey Hepburn. The family now has groups all over the country.
Tickets cost £9.50 or £7.50 for concessions. The show is on at 7pm on the Friday and at 2pm and 7pm on the Saturday. Book via the box office on 01775 764777 or at www.southhollandcentre.co.uk
