Downton Abbey hits the big screen in Spalding this September

Fans of the immensely popular British costume drama Downton Abbey do not need to wait long to watch their favourite characters on Spalding’s big screen.

Tickets are now on sale at the South Holland Centre, which from Friday, September 27, will be holding a mix of daytime and evening viewings.

The feature-length special, written by Julian Fellowes and directed by Michael Engler, sees original cast members including Hugh Bonneville and Maggie Smith starring in the continuation of the much-loved series.

The ITV period drama that ran from 2010 to 2015 was set in the fictional Yorkshire estate of Downton Abbey, depicting the lives of the aristocratic Crawley family and their domestic servants.

The film takes place in 1927, with the Crawley family and their staff preparing for an unexpected visit from the King and Queen.

Screening times are Friday, Sept 27, 11am; Saturday, Sept 28, 7.30pm; Sunday, Sept 29, 6pm; Monday, Sept 30, 2pm and 7.30pm; Tuesday, Oct 1, 11am (with subtitles), 2pm and 7.30pm; Wednesday, Oct 2, 2pm and 6.30pm; Thursday, Oct 3, 2pm.
