Spalding Pumpkin Festival 2019: What you need to know

The Spalding Pumpkin Festival arrives on Friday, October 11.

Now in its 17th year, the festival has become a fixed event on the autumn calendar as a celebration of local horticulture and harvest.

Once again, the event will take place in the town centre - in Sheep Market, Hall Place and Market Place, with a mixture of stalls from local charities and local producers.

Various entertainment will be on offer throughout the day, including street entertainment, face painting, arts and crafts activities and carved pumpkin displays.

In the evening, activities will include a fancy dress competition, live entertainment, and, of course, the Pumpkin Parade at 6.30pm. It's all followed by a grand finale firework display at 7.30pm.

The festival is sponsored by David Bowman Pumpkins Ltd and supported by the Rotary Club of Spalding and Welland, the Rotary Club of South Holland and Spalding Lions.

There had been rumours in August that this could be the last Pumpkin Festival but the district council's ruling Tory group has promised that the event will continue under the current administration - which means for the next four years at least.
