It'll be perfick! St Nicolas Players take to the stage with The Darling Buds of May
From March 6 until 9, St Nicolas Players will perform the gentle comedy, ‘The Darling Buds of May’ at the South Holland Centre, writes Patrick Walsh.
Set in 1957, Pop Larkin has made a fortune from scrap-iron deals - however, he hasn’t paid any income tax.
Young tax official, Mr Charlton, has been sent to the Larkin’s rural home, of six children and warm-hearted Ma, to inspect these business dealings but immediately falls in love with Pop’s eldest daughter, Mariette.
Soon, he is charmed by the Larkin’s generosity and way of life where 'life is easy, love is new and the nightingales are going ‘hell for leather’ in the bluebell woods. Sounds Perfick.'
