Make a date for Pinchbeck Carnival from June 7-9
‘Careers’ is the theme of this year’s Pinchbeck Carnival that runs over three days from Friday (June 7) until Sunday, 9.
The fun is centred around the carnival marquee in the Rotten Row Playing Field.
Doors open on the Friday at 6.30pm for the annual bingo night in the marquee.
On Saturday, the parade leaves Wimberely Way at noon, going down Rotten Row, Brownlow Crescent, Bear Lane, Knight Street and back down Rotten Row to the playing field, arriving at about 12.45pm.
Carnival Queen Abigail Slade, prince Samuel Start and princess Gabriela Sant’ana will lead the parade, followed by decorated floats, vintage cars from the Boston Classic Car Club and the Breaston Highlanders marching band who will also be doing a display in the arena.
The carnival will be officially opened at 1pm with the main arena act this year being the Essex Dog Display Team who appeared for the Queen’s Jubilee celebrations. There will be a chance to meet the dogs at the end.
Other arena acts include martial arts group Kuk Sool Wan and the Diamondz School of Dance. Plus, there will be children’s rides, bouncy castles, balloon modelling, refreshments and more. Compères for the day are Jan and Chris from Tulip Entertainments.
Weather permitting, spectators can enjoy a flypast by the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight.
In the marquee, the WI will provide tea and cake, plus a handicrafts competition for both children and adults which includes cookery and photographic categories.
Entries should be bought to the marquee between 9am and 10.30am. A fancy dress competition will be judged at 1.15pm and is open to both children and adults. There will be photographic displays, which will include photos of carnival royalty from previous years.
From 6pm, is a vinyl evening with quizzes and games. Children are welcome.
Admission is £3 for adults and £1.50 for children, to include both the day and evening entertainment.
On Sunday, is a united church service of worship in the marquee at 10.30am, followed by Sunday lunch at 1pm. (Book for the lunch at £7.50 on 01775 680444.)
