CONCERT PREVIEW: South Holland Concerts: The Marylebone Trio, South Holland Centre, Spalding, Sunday, February 10 at 3pm
Woodwind group The Marylebone Trio will bring the 35th season of South Holland Concerts to a close next weekend.
Oboe player Jemma Bausor, bassoon musician Alexandra Davidson and clarinettist Helen James are performing at Spalding’s South Holland Centre on Sunday, February 10, at 3pm.
Works by Bach, Beethoven, Mozart and Schubert will feature in the recital by the trio who first came together at the Royal Academy of Music, London, in 2003.
In the past, Jemma, from Warwickshire, County Durham-born Helen and Alexandra, of Dorset, have been invited to play at venues which include the National Portrait Gallery, London, Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, and Stratford-upon-Avon in Jemma’s home county.
David Jones, chairman of South Holland Concerts, said: "The Marylebone Trio has quickly gained a reputation, not only for their individual skills and ensemble playing, but also for their lively and informative presentation of a varied mix of music.
"All three musicians are very talented wind soloists who have successful careers with leading orchestras.
"However, they have also been chosen recently as selected artists for the Making Music Scheme, the UK’s leading organisation for promoting music as a leisurely activity, with a membership of over 3,500 groups representing around 190,000 musicians across the UK.
"Jemma, Helen and Alexandra each have a strong commitment to educational work and, with their typically varied programme, next Sunday's concert really should provide something for everyone."
Tickets are priced £13.50 - £12 for concessions and free for children and students in full-time education - and are available from South Holland Centre’s box office on 01775 764777.
