A new club where young people aged between 11 and 18 can learn new skills and have fun has opened in Spalding.
The Zone takes place at The Umbrella, Westlode Street, and runs on Wednesdays during school terms between 7pm and 9pm.
Funded by the National Lottery Awards for All programme, The Zone offers youngsters a range of activities, including sports, music, art and career advice.
Hannah Amess from The Umbrella said: “The Zone will help youngsters make the most of life and bring in experts to teach them new skills.
“Members have the chance to gain recognised qualifications, but this isn’t school and there will also be a chance to hang out with friends and have loads of fun.
“By being a Zone member, you will also have the chance to train to become a young leader, perfect for helping youngsters get into college, university or a job.”
The Zone held a taster session last Wednesday where youngsters had a chance to find out more about the club which operates in addition to Spalding Youth Club which also meets at The Umbrella on Fridays between 7 pm and 9.30pm.
Hannah said: “The Zone is run for the benefit of local young people and members will have the opportunity to decide on some of the activities on the scheduled programme.”
