A Spalding fitness instructor is taking a Latin American dance craze to a town church for a worthy cause this week.
Becky Tarrant (22) is hosting a Party in Pink zumbathon in aid of breast cancer prevention at St Thomas’s Road Methodist Church on Thursday from 7pm until 8pm.
The one-hour zumbathon is for all ages and abilities, the only requirement is that anyone who comes to the event dresses in pink.
Becky said: “I’d been teaching zumba classes for three years, then I had a baby and after my pregnancy, I decided to get back into it.
“I was going through a zumba website when I came across details about this breast cancer zumbathon and I decided that Spalding should be a part of it.
“It’s for anyone, those who have been doing zumba for years and those who have never tried it before but want to meet new friends and raise money for a very important cause.”
Entry is £3 and all proceeds are going to Zumba Global Research Grant for Breast Cancer Prevention which aims to raise about £625,000 to fund research into breast cancer treatment.
Becky said: “Over the next few months, people are doing zumbathons all over the world because it’s going to make a difference and I’ll be happy with whatever I raise.”
