FENCES (12A, SHOWCASE CINEMA DE LUX PETERBOROUGH)

Denzel Washington’s first directing gig in ten years sees him helm this drama based on the Pulitzer Prize-winning play.

He also stars as the lead character (and also notched a Golden Globe nod to boot), a working-class African-American father trying to raise a family in 1950s’ Pittsburgh, while coming to terms with the events of his life.

Suicide Squad’s Viola Davis – who won a Golden Globe and BAFTA for Best Supporting Actress – co-stars as his wife.
