The first winners of South Holland Open Arts 2017 have been announced.
Winners of the Best Newcomer and Best Photography award were revealed at a private view of the exhibition at the South Holland Centre in Spalding on Thursday evening.
The Best Newcomer prize sponsored by Riverbank Studios went to Jenny Wood for her seascape painting ‘View to Isle of Arran’.
The Best Photography award sponsored by Shutter Hub went to Seamus Bryans.
Coun Gary Taylor, South Holland District Council’s portfolio holder for arts development, said: “I would like to congratulate Jenny and Seamus for their awards. They have certainly created some very impressive artwork.
“The standard of art on show this year is very high, so I would urge anyone who hasn’t visited the exhibition yet to pop along soon.”
South Holland Open Arts, which has been running since 1999, aims to showcase the best work by professional and amateur artists from across the region.
This year’s event is being held at the South Holland Centre and runs until this Thursday, March 9.
As usual visitors are invited to vote for their favourite piece of work, with the artist receiving the most votes awarded the prestigious Public Vote Trophy.
