A stunning business and marketing student from Market Deeping has new-found courage after mastering an anxiety disorder to become the face of a city.
Jessica Blake (22) is the new Miss Leicester after a combination of beauty and brains floored a panel of judges, including former Miss Great Britain Ashley Powell.
The success of former Deepings School student Jessica, whose sister Katherine-Elyse Blake (25) became Miss London City last September, is even more remarkable as the Leicester DeMontfort University student was officially diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder in December 2011.
Jessica said: “Words can’t express the feeling I had when I found out that I was Miss Leicester 2015.
“I wanted to win so much because I wanted to make my family proud and it’s made me so happy to be the new Miss Leicester.”
Things could get even more spectacular for Jessica, who wants to become a marketing director, as she is in the line-up for the 70th Miss Great Britain Contest in Leicester on September 10 and 11.
“It’s such a high and I’m not really sure what to expect now, but I know that I’ll have a full calendar of events ahead,” Jessica said,
“There’s the national finals soon so I’ll be preparing for those too.
“But for now I’m just enjoying the feeling of winning.”
Kate Solomons, national director of Miss Great Britain. said: “Miss Leicester 2015, part of the Miss Midlands regional final, was a fantastic event in front of a fabulous audience of friends, family, sponsors and judges.
