Ales flowed, meals were served and songs were sung at The Chequers of Weston where a summer garden party took place on August Bank Holiday Monday.

Classically-trained Spalding singer Sarah O’Brien (pictured), her band, Miss O’Brien’s Boys, along with self-styled town-based band Zebra performed during the ten-hour event which also featured a barbecue and children’s play area.

Durand Moore, assistant restaurant manager at The Chequers, said: “It went really well and everybody enjoyed it.

“The staff worked really hard, all the customers seemed to like it and we’ve had a few who have come back to us again since the party.”

Sarah said: “It was really good and despite the wet weather, it was very well-attended and well-received.

“We were pleasantly surprised by the amount of people who turned up, many of whom got up and danced during the party, and we had a fabulous time.

“We’re very grateful to have been asked by The Chequers to play at their very first garden party and all credit to the staff for making such a fantastic effort, along with the people for coming out.”
