JoJo - Good To Know: Album review

JoJo burst onto the pop scene at a young age. Her catchy debut track ‘Leave (Get Out)’ was a huge, angsty hit.

Apparently, she was just 13-years-old when that song was released, in 2004.

She’s all grown up now and still making great music.

Her latest album ‘Good To Know’ is a soothing R ‘n’ B affair. If you didn’t know who was singing on the album, you’d probably think it was Ariana Grande at first listen.

Their voices are very similar - although JoJo is, of course, the original.

The tracks on her latest album are very relaxing and her voice is as smooth as velvet. Although there are no what I’d call ‘stand-out’ tracks it’s a pleasant album.

It’s the sort of album that you could imagine listening to in a lounge bar or a romantic restaurant, or at home late at night.

In the first track ‘Bad Habits’ we hear JoJo singing about a woman asking to be appreciated. ‘Pay me attention,’ she sings.

On the track ‘So Bad’ she sings about competing with a rival lover, while ‘Gold’ is another love song.

‘Lonely Hearts’ is about insecurity, destiny and also about finding love.

As you can see, there is a definite theme throughout the album.

There is no song on here that has the impact of her debut single ‘Leave (Get Out) but JoJo has obviously taken a new direction, matured and still has a beautiful voice.

The album is out now on various formats.
