BLOXX - Lie Out Loud: Album review
I’m pretty sure that this is a band who are going to do very, very well.
Led by singer/guitarist Ophelia (Fee) Booth BLOXX’s music is fresh, fun and matter-of-fact indie pop.
BLOXX were formed in Uxbridge, West London, in 2016 by Booth, Taz Sindhu (guitar) and Mozwin Norohna (drums) while they were working towards BTECs in music performance. Bassist Paul Raubišķis later completed the quartet.
They’ve already toured extensively with the likes of The Wombats and Two Door Cinema Club and their debut album is absolutely cracking.
It opens with the catchy ‘Lie Out Loud’, with its hook-driven chorus and feelings of infatuation.
Next track ‘Coming Up Short’ has hints of Paramore and ‘Go Out With You’ has an infectious intro and bassline, with an edge of electronica. Booth confidently sings: “I will do anything, just to go out with you.”
In 5000 Miles, raw power chords lead into an emotional track about long distance love.
‘Off My Mind’ has an atmospheric intro before a punchy verse and addictive chorus.
Every single track on this album is full of life and fun. I was happy to listen to it again and again. It’s out now.
