Comedian Alfie Moore in Spalding for three day festival across trio of churches
Three parish churches will come together to host a mammoth three day event from October 4-6.
And comedian Alfie Moore - ‘Fair Cop Unleashed’ will be appearing in a special show held inside St Mary and St Nicolas Church in Spalding as part of the event.
Called ‘A Spalding Harvest’, it brings together St Mary and St Nicolas with two other Spalding churches - St Paul’s in Holbeach Road and St John the Baptist in Hawthorn Bank.
The event starts on Friday, October 4 until Sunday, October 6, with flower festivals all weekend at the three churches.
Rev John Bennett, of St Mary and St Nicolas, said: "The idea is to bring the churches together and it ties in nicely with the forthcoming Pumpkin Parade."
At St Mary and St Nicolas in The Vista, the entertainment starts on Friday with an organ concert at lunchtime and lunch available. On Saturday morning is pumpkin decorating with pumpkins donated from growers David Bowman.
Also on Saturday, is tower climbing, a guided walk around the churchyard and the chance to have a go at bell ringing in the afternoon.
Then, at 7.30pm, it’s Alfie Moore. The former policeman-turned comedian currently has a show on BBC Radio 4 called ‘It’s a Fair Cop’ where he takes a wry look at policing today - with plenty of humour. Tickets are available from the South Holland Centre at £12.
On Sunday is a harvest lunch with the harvest festival at 9.30am and 11am; and festival evensong at 6.30pm.
At St Paul’s Church, the flower festival also begins on Friday with St Paul’s School harvest at 2pm, a Sunday harvest festival at 9.15am and a harvest supper on the Monday (Oct 7) at 6.30pm.
At St John the Baptist, the flower festival again runs throughout the weekend with ‘The Rocking Revs’ performing at 7pm on the Friday. A harvest lunch is on Sunday and an ‘all age harvest festival' at 10am on the Sunday.
Cakes and refreshments are available in all the churches during the event.
