Spalding United's home match with Carlton Town this afternoon (Monday) has been postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.

The festive fixture was called off following a morning pitch inspection by the match official.

The game should have been the first match at the helm for newly-appointed Spalding manager Brett Whaley.

Whaley stepped down last week as manager of Northern Premier League Midlands Division rivals Wisbech Town to take over at the Sir Halley Stewart ground.

His first match in charge will now be on New Year's Day when Spalding travel to face Histon.
