Double for Spalding Water Polo Club in Herts League




Spalding Water Polo Club have enjoyed success in their latest Herts League matches.

They travelled to Hertford and celebrated a 20-8 win with goals from Damian Makwana (6), Ed Martin (4), Chris Barham (2), Matt Papworth (2), Calvin Wilson (2) and one apiece for John James, Tom Marsters, Nathan Henfrey and Toby Rickett.

Spalding played host to Bedford and won 19-5.

They were in charge of the match from the start and had an exceptional second quarter, winning that period 9-0.

Homegrown talent Roni McCloughlin (15) was making his debut for the senior men’s team and topped off a fantastic game with a goal in the final quarter.

Goalscorers were Makwana (5), John James (3), Barham (2), Phil James (2), Martin (2), one apiece for Marsters, McCloughlin, Papworth, Tim Shields and Wilson.

Spalding Polo train on Tuesday evenings at the Castle pool.

Junior sessions are 6.45pm to 7.30pm and 7.30pm to 8.30pm. The senior session is 8.30pm to 10pm.
