Spalding United manager Pat Rayment today pulled off what he described as the best signing the club has ever made.
The Tulips boss was delighted to bring in former Reading winger Julian Kelly and he also swooped for ex-Lincoln defender Kern Miller.
Kelly (24) began his career at Arsenal and went on to play in the Championship after being released by The Gunners. He also made more than 50 appearances for Notts County before taking a break from football last year after being released.
He said: “I am hungry to make a go of it again and Spalding are just the sort of ambitious club I want to play for.”
Miller 22) will line-up alongside Nathan Stainfield in the centre of defence following the decision of skipper Jamie Stevens to leave the club.
Rayment was delighted to bring in the pair, who follow last week’s captures of Gareth Jelleyman and Nick Conroy as player-coaches.
He said: “They are just the sort of hungry, ambitious players we have been trying to bring to the club. I said I was after six more players so to sign two quality players in one morning is fantastic. I am ecstatic.
“Given the standard Julian has played at, I think he is the best signing this club has ever made.”
