Is this the week when Spalding pick up their first win in what has been an unforgiving season so far in Midlands One East?
On Saturday, Town travel to Mansfield who are just two places above them in the table and haven’t won a league game since the start of November.
Spalding captain Ryan Chappell is determined that his side should go all-out for tries at Eakring Road, especially after their uplifting display in defeat against Kettering last Saturday.
Chappell said: “Mansfield are a tough side and always have been, with a very forward-dominant style and strong in the middle of the park.
“But they haven’t had the best of results recently so we’ll definitely be going there looking to get something out of the game.
“If we can keep their forwards moving, hopefully they will get tired out.”
Spalding will be without flanker Liam Richardson and there are also doubts over Harry Sharman who shone while playing at open side flanker against Kettering.
Chappell said: “There have been times this season when we’ve let ourselves down, but the guys’ spirit was there for 80 minutes against Kettering.
“We just need to be more clinical where we have the chance to take points.”
