South Lincs swimmers on junior inter-county duty
Six members of South Lincs Competitive Swimming Club received call-ups to represent Lincolnshire at the junior inter-county competition.
Nitesh Anbazhagan, Alex Sadler, Frank Lamb, Luke Sorrell, Charlotte Ciuberkyte and Isobel Gosling all headed to Luton to compete for the county against teams from Warwickshire, Essex, Suffolk, Norfolk, Bedfordshire, Hertfordshire and Leicestershire.
They had a mix of individual and relay events where their final placing receives points that go towards an overall team score.
Lamb competed in two individual events in the boys 10 years age group, finishing fourth in both the 50m breaststroke and 50m backstroke in new long course personal best times of 46.84 and 40.23 seconds respectively.
He also formed part of the 10 years mixed 4x50m freestyle relay team.
Lamb swam the anchor leg to bring the Lincolnshire team home to second place in 2.15.80.
He was joined by Sorrell to form half of the boys 10 years 4x50m medley relay team.
Sorrell opened the relay with the backstroke leg and was followed into the water by Lamb who swam the breaststroke section. The team finished in fourth place with a time of 2.44.44.
Lamb was also part of the 8x50m mixed squadron for the first boys section of the race where the Lincolnshire team managed sixth place.
Anbazhagan had a busy night in the boys 13 years age group.
He swam a strong race to finish in a time of 1.12.90 and take sixth place in the 100m butterfly.
A tired swim In the 100m breaststroke resulted in a time of 1.25.92 outside of his best and a seventh-place finish.
Anbazhagan also formed part of the 4x50m medley relay where he swam the breaststroke section. The team could only manage eighth place in 2.13.86.
Sadler took second in the boys 100m butterfly in a respectable time of 1.14.76.
He also swam the butterfly section of the boys 12 years 4x50m medley relay where the team took seventh place in 2.24.80.
Ciuberkyte formed part of the girls 13 years age group 4x50m medley relay where she swam the breaststroke section. The team swam to seventh in 2.15.18.
Gosling was also on relay duty in the girls 12 years 4x50m medley. She swam the butterfly section and helped the team to seventh in 2.23.55.
On the night, Lincolnshire could only manage eighth place overall.
