Long Sutton seal title with Spalding victory

Long Sutton sealed the Rutland League Division Three title with a comfortable 58 run win over bottom-of-the-table Spalding on Sunday.

Sutton, who have won all five matches, elected to bat and were 140 all out off 38.4 overs, Josh Baker top scoring with 38.

Angus Bell scored 25, Dan Oldfield 19, Jacob Synott 14 and Barry Stanway 11.

For Spalding, James Laud took a remarkable 4-4 from four overs, Harry DeCamps took 2-28, and there were also wickets for Mark Laud, Thomas DeCamps, Symon DeCamps and Brandon Andrews.

In reply, Spalding were skittled out for 82 in 30 overs, Jay White top scoring with 23 and Paul Lawrence getting 14.

Long Sutton bowler Baker took 3-11 from eight overs, Rob Simpson 3-25, and there were also wickets for Steven Milnes, Joe Whittaker, Jake Burton and Charlie Crisp.

In Division Four East, Market Deeping 2nd won by four wickets at home to Ufford Park 2nd.

After asking Park to bat, Deeping skittled them out for 103 from 35.4 overs, Ben Rae taking 3-11 off eight overs, Adam Muspratt 3-18, Ollie Moore 2-13 and Michael Holden 2-18.

Deeping managed to get 104-6 with five overs still remaining, opener Andrew Crawford carrying his bat for 30, Sam Jackson hitting 25, Sam Curtis 14 and Michael Holden 13.
