Donington teenager Finn Sargent celebrated a first senior win in only his fourth meeting.

But the 16-year-old had to wait 48 hours for victory following an appeal.

He just missed out on winning his heat at Skegness on Saturday night with a ‘not quite big enough, last bender’ but finished second.

Starting the final from yellow grade, after being upgraded last month, he was soon up to second when the waved yellow flag came out in very wet conditions.

Sargent – who lapped his dad Mark during the race – crossed the finish line first.

However, there was an inquiry and Finn was told he had “jumped the start”.

He appealed the decision and got confirmation that the result had been changed late on Monday night.

The meeting was a World Championship round and Finn’s 35 points should put him on the semi-final grid in August at King’s Lynn or Northampton.
