Spalding United make FA Cup progress with one-goal victory at Tividale
Spalding United made FA Cup progress with a one-goal away win at Tividale on Saturday.
Stefen Broccoli scored the crucial goal two minutes into the second half of the first qualifying round clash in the West Midlands.
The Tulips had introduced talisman Marcus Maddison at the interval of their clash against the Midland League side.
And it was Maddison who provided the pass for Broccoli to score for the third successive game and ensure the Tulips' place in Monday's second qualifying round draw.
They then had to defy a double injury blow with centre-halves Nathan Stainfield and Hugo Odogwo-Atkinson both having to be replaced in the final 20 minutes of the contest.
The Tulips are back in action on Tuesday night when they host near neighbours Stamford in a Northern Premier League Midlands Division match at the Sir Halley Stewart.
Deeping Rangers started a run of three succession home games with a 1-0 success on Saturday against Melton Town in the United Counties League Premier Division North.
Will Bird's second half strike proved the difference to give Rangers their third league win of the season from five outings.
Bourne Town are still seeking their first win of the Division One season after a 3-0 away defeat Hucknall Town.
Jordan Phillips had given the hosts the lead 11 minutes before the break with second half goals from Cayne Maxwell and Adam Nelson securing the win.
