Young players from Spalding Rugby Club followed in the footsteps of legends by playing at Welford Road on Saturday, home of 10-time English champions Leicester Tigers.
On the same day Tigers continued their Aviva Premiership campaign against Sale Sharks, Spalding were in action in the Prima Tiger Cup.
They had the opportunity to watch the Leicester match as part of a 22,737-strong crowd before playing at the stadium in front of family and supporters. Teams also had a photograph at half-time.
The Prima Tiger Cup, sponsored by Prima Solutions of Loughborough, is enjoying its biggest-ever season with more than 70 teams entering the first-round stage played over festivals in Norfolk, Suffolk, Staffordshire, Leicestershire and Nottinghamshire.
Spalding were joined by teams from Holt, Market Harborough, Moseley, North Walsham, Silhillians, Stamford and Towcestrians as the Prima Tiger Cup qualifiers.
Coach Mark Shields said: “It has been an absolutely fantastic experience. Everyone has really enjoyed it and we have been looked after really well by everyone at Tigers.
“We are all really proud to be here, we’ve met some very hard teams but they have all done brilliantly and the children really enjoyed it.”
