Life doesn’t appear to be getting any easier in bottom-of-the-table Spalding’s fight for survival.
They head to fifth-placed Ilkeston in Midlands One East on Saturday after their worst performance of the season saw them thrashed 48-0 at Huntingdon last weekend.
Captain Ryan Chappell and Ash Piccaver miss out due to work commitments while there are doubts over the availability of former skipper Harry Sharman and Tim Waltham is ruled out due to an ankle injury.
Spalding were edged out 22-16 at home to Ilkeston in October but they head to Derbyshire with a record of 16 successive defeats.
Chappell said: “They are old foes and it’s always a tough game at their place with a good set of fans giving them an advantage.
“They are a very physical side and the squad has been together for a while.
“We’ve just got to dig in and we can’t let our heads do down. We will have to keep trying our best.
“The squad is stretched this weekend which won’t be ideal but hopefully I will be back for the next game.”
