Spalding Rugby Club under-10s had plenty to celebrate at the Leicester Tigers Prima Cup tournament.

First up were Trentham and after a slow start Spalding managed to score a couple of breakaway tries.

Newcastle equalised in the first half before Spalding managed to score another two tries to end the game at 3-1.

Chesterfield proved a slightly easier game with a 5-0 win for Spalding.

The final game of the league stage against Burntwood was settled by one try – meaning a clean sweep for Spalding who went through to the final against Syston.

Spalding who managed to get two tries across the line and end the day as winners of ‘final 2’.

The prize for their efforts was an invitation to the quarter-finals and semi-finals of the tournament at Welford Road, Leicester, on February 6.
