Simmonds wins convincingly

This week’s Tydd Gote Angling Club match was held at Main Road and it was a return to the higher number pegs for the winners.

The higher numbered pegs were in the expectation of finding a few more fish than normal as of late, but the fish didn’t play ball.

Dave Simmonds was the winner on peg 34 and found a good tench on his pole line for 4lb 9½oz to take the win, but also had the misfortune of losing a bigger fish on the feeder.

Martyn Thomas was on peg 35 and came in second with two big perch on the feeder for 2lb 4½ oz, but he left it late with both of his fish coming in the last hour.

Weights then began to plummet with Andrew Kilby in third with two roach for 2½oz.

Then it was Pete Emery and Steve Borrett in joint-fourth with sticklebacks.

In the Wednesday Open at Black Dyke, in first was John Taylor with 6lb 11oz, in second was Jez Rockett with 4lb 2oz and in third was Don Green with 15oz.
