Spalding’s first XV for the new Midlands Two East (North) season is largely in place with some familiar faces occupying new positions.
Town returned to training on Tuesday with the help of staff from Heroes Gym, Pinchbeck, who have been putting the side through their paces in terms of fitness.
On the field, forward Sam Cooke takes over as captain after Ryan Chappell stood down due to work commitments, with full back Adam McHugh taking over from Cooke as vice-captain.
Coach Ben Williams has a number of players back from long-term injuries that wreaked havoc on Town’s wretched run in Midlands One East last season, including Jim Williams, Rob Lucas, Jimmy Rowlands, Tim Woolfson and Sion Williams.
There are also additions in the shape of former under-19 Colts players Jordan Templer and brothers Taylor and Wilson Crowson.
But the most eye-catching name in Town’s squad is former Town skipper Harry Sharman who returns after a stellar period with South Leicester, winners of both National League 3 Midlands and County Cup titles.
