RUGBY: Town suffer narrow loss, Deepings crushed, Bourne grab away success

Spalding RFC again proved they are a force to be reckoned with in Midlands One East after pushing promotion hopefuls Matlock all the way before eventually going down 33-23 on Saturday.

Although it’s now two losses on the bounce for Town, they can hold their heads high following their latest defeat in Derbyshire.

However, Spalding do drop into the bottom two after Market Rasen and Louth beat Market Bosworth 13-6. Fellow relegation rivals Peterborough were crushed 36-0 at Bedford Athletic.

It was a different story for Deepings in Midlands Three East (South) though, as they were battered 50-0 at Stewarts and Lloyds Corby.

Bourne were in winning form though, picking up a fine 22-19 victory at Westwood.
