Spalding RFC kept their Midlands Two East (North) title bid on track with a 19-10 victory at lowly Kesteven on Saturday.
Town’s 12th win from 14 league games keeps them second in the standings, although they are now a point behind rivals Belgrave after they earned a bonus-point success over Bakewell.
It was a tough afternoon for Deepings and Bourne though, as both suffered heavy home defeats.
Deepings were drubbed 88-18 by Biggleswade in Division Three East (S), making it 12 losses from 13 outings for the rock-bottom Green Machine.
Similarly, Bourne stay at the foot of Midlands Four East (S) after suffering a 40-6 defeat against Bedford Swifts. They have lost all 11 of their league games this season.
