RUGBY: Town out to avoid mauling against Lions

Have your say

Town skipper Harry Sharman admits he just wants his side to compete with high-flying Peterborough Lions on Saturday (3pm).

The Midlands One East rivals are poles apart with basement boys Spalding 26 points behind the third-placed city outfit. Having lost 85-0 last time out, Town now have a points difference of -291 after six games.

Captain Sharman, who could return from injury at the Memorial Field, said: “I’ve been here before as a player. You need to suck it up and pull together. I know we’re capable of performing in this league. Maybe we can’t beat Lions, but we certainly can make them work really hard for a win.”

Spalding are again without Dave Hankinson, but Kevin Childs should return to the side.
