RUGBY: Spalding RFC relegated after Ilkeston defeat

Spalding RFC’s stint in Midlands One East came to an end on Saturday as they were relegated after losing 78-10 at Ilkeston on the final day of the season.

Town, who started the day out of the drop zone, were overhauled by rivals Peterborough RFC after they won 35-23 against already relegated Loughborough.

Mark Bosworth are the other team to slip through the trapdoor after a 28-25 home beating by Towcestrians.

Bedford Athletic finish up as champions, with Ilkeston second.
