A first league win of the season is Spalding’s target on Saturday.
They take on Mansfield in Midlands One East at the Memorial Field after six successive defeats left them at the foot of the table.
Captain Harry Sharman admitted: “We need to get that first win sooner rather than later for confidence as well as points on the board.
“We don’t want a gap to open up between ourselves and the other teams just above us.
“Even though we lost to the league leaders Kettering last weekend, we still had signs of improvement in the performance.
“Unfortunately our heads dropped after conceding 20 points because we couldn’t see a chance of a comeback.
“We have to target a win on Saturday.
“Mansfield are close to us in the table and hopefully the crowd at home can get behind us again.
“The players worked hard in training on Tuesday and they will do the same tonight.
“We are building towards that first victory by putting in the hard yards.”
