Spalding RFC are hosting four matches on Saturday as they begin their 90th season in existence.
The Blue Riband match of the Memorial Field sees Town’s first team take on Norwich at 2.30pm.
Having lost their first competitive game of the season at Ashbourne on Saturday, Harry Sharman’s side are bidding to get back on-track ahead of their Midlands Two East (North) opener on Saturday week.
Before that, a Peterborough ladies’ XV take on Bury St Edmunds ladies’ side, with Spalding hoping that a number of local women will be inspired by the match.
They hope to see a Spalding ladies’ team open next year’s event.
A ‘fastest man at the club’ race follows at 1pm, with all Spalding players racing the length of the pitch.
Over on the second team pitch, Spalding Vets then take on Fenland Barbarians at 1.45pm, which is followed by a ‘generations game’ between Norwich 3rd and a Town team made up exclusively of fathers and sons who play for the club (3pm).
The finale then sees Spalding Colts take on Spalding Grammar School 1st for the Don Beecham Shield (4pm).
