Rounders teams battle it out for title

Last year, a whopping 25 teams attended the South Holland primary schools rounders tournament, but this year, the competition was split between three regions.

On Monday, The Peele Community College hosted the Holbeach and Long Sutton region, while on Tuesday, Spalding Grammar hosted for Spalding and surrounding schools, then on Wednesday, Bourne Academy hosted for Bourne and Deeping schools.

Rupert Gibson, school games organiser for Lincolnshire SE School Sport Partnership, said: รข Huge thanks to the host schools and the sports leaders from The Peele, Spalding High and Bourne Academy, who did a magnificent job umpiring and coaching.

There were some excellent, high-scoring games in the fun, but highly-competitive competition at Peele Community College, with Whaplode coming out the eventual winners.

Results: Holbeach and Long Sutton Schools - Whaplode beat Fleet Wood Lane 17.5-14.5; Fleet Wood Lane beat Sutton St James 16-12.5; Whaplode beat Sutton St James13-7.5.
