Deeping Rangers are on a revenge mission when they hit the FA Vase trail again on Friday night.

The Clarets travel to face United Counties League Premier Division North rivals Newark FC for the first round proper tie that is being played at Basford.

Newark were 3-0 winners over Deeping in a league match at the start of the month and the Clarets are keen to avenge that defeat after an upturn in their form following that reversal.

They took seven points from three games before losing 2-1 at league leaders Long Eaton on Tuesday night where they again gave an excellent account of themselves.

Manager Daniel French said: “The Long Eaton result doesn't alter our progress and it does set us up well to carry on ready for Friday.

"We are a totally different outfit now from the last Newark game and we will want to put that result right.

"The lads are looking forward to it and, after the last few performances, we couldn't be in a better place."

Pinchbeck United are also in cup action this weekend as they travel to league rivals Skegness Town in the Lincolnshire Senior Trophy.

The Knights will be aiming to bounce back on Saturday after two successive heavy defeats against a Lilywhites side who have lost five of their last seven games.

Pinchbeck boss Lewis Thorogood said: "We have to respond and we need to do it sooner rather than later.

"Skegness are going through a bit of a difficult patch themselves so it will be a fixture that both teams will want to try and get something from to give some momentum to kick on for the next phase of the season."

Bourne are also in Lincolnshire Senior Trophy action on Saturday when they travel to Northern Counties East League Division One table-toppers Brigg Town.
