Pinchbeck United to face March Town in a friendly at Knight Street
Pinchbeck United boss Lewis Thorogood doesn’t want his side to take their foot off the gas as the Knights start to immediately turn their attentions to next season.
They brought the curtain down on their Kingfisher Lighting United Counties League Premier Division Cup campaign at the weekend.
And the Knights will be straight back in action on Saturday when they take on Thurlow Nunn League side March Town in a friendly at Knight Street (kick-off 3pm).
They will then host an AFC Rushden & Diamonds side the following weekend with Thorogood keen to build on some much-improved performances in recent weeks.
The Knights gave a good account of themselves in the 2-1 home reversal against Oadby a fortnight ago and Thorogood saw plenty of promise at the weekend as they lost by the same scoreline at Lutterworth Town.
He said: “The season is now done after last Saturday but pre-season starts as of this week.
“It might sound a bit weird but you need this two or three month period to make sure you are in the right place for when the season starts.
“The last two performances have been a huge positive and a step in the right direction so the last thing we can do now is afford to take our foot off the gas and lose all of this good momentum from the last couple of weeks.
“We are showing areas of improvement and I want to be able to kick us on now because even opposition managers have been saying how well it has moved on so you know that it is going in the right direction.”
Spectators will be permitted to attend Saturday’s match against March as Knight Street is classed as a public facility.
The Hares - who were riding high in Division One North of the Thurlow Nunn League when the campaign was curtailed - have played several friendlies themselves in recent weeks and shared the spoils in a 2-2 draw with Huntingdon Town at the weekend.
