FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round: Gorleston 0 Pinchbeck United 1




Pinchbeck United’s wait for a first-ever win in the Emirates FA Cup goes on.

They were beaten 1-0 at Gorleston on the east Norfolk coast on Saturday.

Aaron Sanders’ goal earned a first win for the Thurlow Nunn Eastern Counties League Premier Division side, who had been beaten 8-0 at Norwich United just four days earlier.

It was largely an uneventful match, with the Knights missing the creativity and threat of Ollie Maltby. And Kofi Ross suffered an injury in the warm-up.

Knights player/boss Ian Dunn, who came on as a second-half substitute, said: “It was a difficult game in difficult conditions that was heading for 0-0 and a replay.

“We worked hard and tried our best but it’s probably fair to say Gorleston played the better football and created better openings but without really opening us up.”

l Substitute Jamie Gaukroger fired the winner against Sleaford Town 25 minutes from time.

It earned Pinchbeck their first uhlsports UCL Premier Division points of the season.

Maltby’s header put them ahead on 11 minutes before Tom Garrick squared matters on the counter-attack. Pinchbeck looked to be on the verge of going in at half-time ahead but keeper Regan Start saved Maltby’s penalty.

. Spalding United completed their pre-season campaign with a 2-1 defeat at home to Corby Town.

Jamie Jackson pounced to put the Tulips 1-0 up on 41 minutes but sub Scott Sandy scored a second-half brace to seal the win.

The Tulips begin their league season at Sutton Coldfield Town on Saturday.
