Pinchbeck return to action this weekend but Spalding game is off
Pinchbeck United will be hoping the poor weather stays away this weekend as they bid to face up against Oadby GNG in the United Counties League Premier Division.
Despite making the decision to return to footballing action, the Knights haven’t been able to play any competitive football as all their games have been called off due to the changing conditions on each Saturday since.
The new-look Pinchbeck side will go into the game looking to get their first win of the season, and move away from the relegation places.
Knights manager Lewis Thorogood said: “We’ve got everything crossed that we can finally get a game in this weekend.
“I think we’ve probably forgot how much rain we’ve had over the last few weeks.
“But I’ve seen the forecast and it doesn’t seem to be so bad. We’re expecting quite a physical test this weekend, and Oadby are a team who do the simple things right.
“They play three banks and make it difficult for anyone they play.
“All our players are fit and hungry and chomping at the bit to show what they can do.
“It’s time to get points on the board for us, and it should be starting this weekend.”
Meanwhile, Spalding United’s away game against Glossop has been called off this weekend.
Glossop put a statement on Twitter which cited “operational reasons” as to why their game couldn’t go ahead, and released a further statement saying they wouldn’t want to play whilethey’re still in tier three.
The Tulips have now turned their attention to a derby game on Boxing Day against Wisbech Town, and are also looking for a friendly this weekend to get back into action.
