West Pinchbeck 10k organisers get 'truly fantastic feedback'
A record entry took part in the West Pinchbeck 10k road race sponsored by Robsons.
Halmer Harriers have hosted the race for two years since taking over the organisation of the event from Spalding Triathlon Club.
Last year there were 249 runners on the day which was a new record - but the total increased to 278 this time.
Colin Crump, Halmer Harriers committee member and the race director, said: “This year saw a change from manual timing to chip timing and was put in place to provide a better race day experience for the competitors.
“Martin Jennings of Sublime Racing provided the chip timing service and worked frantically to move the timing equipment from the start location to the finish - some 300 metres - and made it with about eight minutes to spare.
“When some well-known names appeared in the entry list, there was great anticipation that the course record would be beaten this year - however, it remains unbeaten.
“The event was supported by 37 Halmer Harriers volunteers and Three Counties Running Club provided eight volunteers filling marshalling and water stations roles.
“It just wouldn’t be possible to run an event like this without the support of volunteers and the contributions of local businesses such as Duncan & Toplis, Robsons, Morrisons, Sainsbury’s, Tesco, The Co-operative and Worldwide Fruit and Advance Performance.
“Not forgetting St Bartholomew’s CE Primary School for the use of their grounds, their PTFA for providing refreshments and West Pinchbeck Village Hall for parking facilities.
“We have received some truly fantastic feedback about the race, mostly about the ‘enthusiastic marshals’, friendliness of the crew and how smoothly the event runs.”
Finish times: Male - Aaron Scott 32:36, Dominic Watson 34:33, Mark Sands 34:46. Female - Charlie Nurse 38:30, Elisabeth Sennitt-Clough 42:43, Emma Tomlinson-McCrae 44:14.
